What can I do? (post-COVID 19 pro bono landscape)

Court: Postponed.
Deposition: Postponed.
Appointment: Postponed.
Clinic: Postponed.
Birthday parties, concerts, eating out…all postponed.
So what ISN’T cancelled or delayed indefinitely?  The need. The need still abounds.
How do we as attorneys respond to the ever present need of low-income Kansans while we’re stuck to our kitchen table command centers, conducing web hearings while wrangling toddlers?  What can we possibly do?
While it may seem over simplified, you can still help.  While in person assistance may not be an option right now, we always need attorneys to staff our senior advice line.
We’re also preparing for the onslaught of eviction and protection from abuse cases that we suspect will come out of this situation.

We are partnering with the Kansas Bar Association through Kansas Bar Foundation funding to put on THREE FREE CLEs:

May 20th, Noon: Eviction Law (https://www.ksbar.org/event/Evictions)

June 10th, Noon: Protection Orders (https://www.ksbar.org/event/ProtectiveOrders)

TBA: Unemployment Law (to be scheduled soon!)

To sign up, go to the above links and register!

We still need you.  Please contact your local office coordinator or email Christy Campbell at campbellc@klsinc.org if there’s something you would like to help with that you cannot find on this website.
